Ele disse que n\u00e3o sabia a causa da morte e que seu cliente estava ansioso por seu dia no tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspero que todos de ambos os lados possam estar em paz\u201d, disse ele.<\/p>\n<p>Searles foi um dos 11 ex-funcion\u00e1rios estaduais presos depois que o estado iniciou uma investiga\u00e7\u00e3o criminal sem precedentes no Centro de Servi\u00e7os Juvenis de Sununu em 2019, embora as acusa\u00e7\u00f5es contra um dos homens tenham sido retiradas no in\u00edcio deste ano depois que ele foi considerado incompetente para ser julgado.<\/p>\n<p>Searles, que enfrentou tr\u00eas acusa\u00e7\u00f5es de agress\u00e3o sexual criminosa agravada envolvendo um adolescente entre outubro de 1995 e julho de 1998, tamb\u00e9m foi acusado em dezenas de processos, a maioria dos quais alegava agress\u00e3o f\u00edsica. Um processo o acusou de sentar nas costas de um adolescente enquanto outro funcion\u00e1rio o estuprava, espancando o menino v\u00e1rias vezes por semana e frequentemente o sufocando at\u00e9 deix\u00e1-lo inconsciente.<\/p>\n<p>Mais de 1.100 ex-residentes processaram o estado desde 2020, alegando abuso f\u00edsico, sexual e emocional ao longo de seis d\u00e9cadas. No primeiro caso a ir a julgamento, um j\u00fari concedeu US$ 38 milh\u00f5es em maio a David Meehan, que disse ter sido espancado e estuprado centenas de vezes.
