Cutler n\u00e3o se op\u00f4s \u00e0 decis\u00e3o do conselho, que foi tomada meses atr\u00e1s. Ele foi anteriormente destitu\u00eddo da Ordem dos Advogados de Nova York.<\/p>\n<p>O caso criminal marcou uma queda dram\u00e1tica para Cutler, que abriu um escrit\u00f3rio de advocacia ambiental em Washington depois de servir como assessor do senador Edmund Muskie e como principal conselheiro de energia e meio ambiente do presidente Jimmy Carter.<\/p>\n<p>Concorrendo como independente para governador, ele perdeu por pouco \u2014 por menos de 2 pontos percentuais \u2014 para o republicano Paul LePage em 2010 e depois perdeu novamente por uma margem maior em 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Cutler foi sentenciado sob um acordo de confiss\u00e3o de culpa no qual recebeu uma pena de quatro anos, mas foi obrigado a cumprir apenas nove meses.
