Enquanto estava l\u00e1, ele supostamente disse aos solicitantes de aluguel que enviassem ordens de pagamento para dep\u00f3sitos e deixassem as informa\u00e7\u00f5es do benefici\u00e1rio e do pagador em branco. <\/p>\n<p>Riel ent\u00e3o supostamente completou as ordens de pagamento, escrevendo seu nome ou os nomes de membros da fam\u00edlia como o benefici\u00e1rio, e n\u00e3o como a empresa gestora, de acordo com as autoridades. Em um caso, um locat\u00e1rio pagou a Riel por meio do aplicativo de transfer\u00eancia de dinheiro Zelle, que os investigadores supostamente rastrearam na conta pessoal de Riel, Zelle.<\/p>\n<p>Quando os requerentes consultaram Riel sobre os apartamentos, ele supostamente deu desculpas pelos atrasos, dizendo repetidamente a uma v\u00edtima que a inspe\u00e7\u00e3o do apartamento estava atrasada h\u00e1 meses, segundo as autoridades.<\/p>\n<p>Os furtos foram descobertos depois que Riel parou de trabalhar no complexo, quando os solicitantes do aluguel apareceram procurando as chaves e perguntando quando seu apartamento estaria pronto. Nesse momento, o novo gerente disse \u00e0s v\u00edtimas que contatassem a pol\u00edcia local. <\/p>\n<p>Segundo os promotores, 17 pessoas disseram ter feito pagamentos a Riel que nunca foram documentados junto \u00e0 administradora. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeste caso, o r\u00e9u supostamente se aproveitou das v\u00edtimas, muitas das quais eram imigrantes que n\u00e3o falavam ingl\u00eas, em busca de moradia. Usando sua posi\u00e7\u00e3o, ele supostamente pegou o dinheiro das v\u00edtimas para uso pessoal, roubando n\u00e3o apenas o dinheiro delas, mas tamb\u00e9m a oportunidade de alugar um apartamento que elas foram levadas a acreditar que tinham garantido\u201d, disse a promotora distrital Marian Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>Riel foi processado em 19 de dezembro no Tribunal Distrital de Malden, onde a fian\u00e7a foi fixada em US$ 10.000.
